Working...for free? or is it just fun?
So I went to missions fest yesterday thinking, okay, I'll spend a bit my time with my editor and maybe help them out a little bit if they need it and then I'll go to Church, but somehow plans just turn out differently then I think they will.
So I got to missions fest around 3:15 thinking, lots of time. I'll leave around 5 to make sure that with catching buses I'll be early for the 6:30 service. So I get there, say hello to my editor and he asks me if I want to help and I'm thinking, not wearing this warm jacket and carrying my bag because that's just not fun. So he finds a place to put my things and then gives me a bit of instruction and I stand around thinking, I don't have a name tag, how are people going to recognize that I'm trying to help? But not too long after that someone asked me a question and I was like, okay, this works. So I made a few sales. Told people about Insight for Living, which I love. And during the slow times had some jokes with the guys. I can't believe how much fun it was. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun working.
I also got to have dinner with Steve (from IFLM, not the Senior Pastor of TACF). We talked about career and business stuff. Things I should keep in mind, things I should do. Essentially preparing myself for what God has for me in the future. I was a great learning experience and I hope that I can do it again sometime.
I love that feeling when you can see how God is preparing you for the future and you're like, well this sucks right now, but I know what God is trying to teach me and that it will be valuable to me later for the things that I feel called to do.

the easiest way to find people is by name. if you search liz stodolak i should pop up wearing a blue hat. then you click add as friend. i don't know if searching by email works...i'm relatively new to facebook.
