3 - 16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, "Your threat means nothing to us. 17If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. 18But even if he doesn't, it wouldn't make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn't serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up."
Now those are some bold guys. You can throw us in fire and even if it harms us we're still not switching gods. I think these guys had it pretty clear. They knew what their God could do, but they weren't going to get upset with Him if He didn't do what they wanted and when you're looking at being thrown in a fire those stakes are pretty high. (But they did manage to get out of the fire untouched when it was so hot that it killed the people who threw them in. Now that's the power of God.)
