I think the real reason why God wants us to worship Him is because He knows it's best for us. The Bible constantly mentions how other gods aren't really gods at all and they can't help us. God wants us to make sincere changes. He wants to see us living at our best, but in order for that to happen the changes we make can't be superficial. Superficial changes are only temporary and God wants what lasts forever. Character lasts.
